Typical mistake for a 3 series driver. You tried to omit that the superiour 5 series exists. ;) Essextee, Kim Jong Healthy and others daily E39s, and I’m far from being the only E60/61 driver, there are also some F10s around, but don’t let that distract you from dreaming of your E9x master race while we sit in our comfort seats looking down on you.

Am I doing this BMW banter thing right? Can you give me a grade, and maybe some pointers on where to improve? Badge snobbery is still important and 5 is more than 3, isn’t it?

Yeah I’ve driven both the new and old gen while I was a lot attendant before. They aren’t a car I would ever describe as exciting, especially when compared to a faster rwd sedan. The only thing it has is that its lighter, but yet it still has a worse power to weight ratio than even a 525i which is the lesser trim

It looks like a 2018 with the 6 speed will do 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. You can get away with that being exciting if its an MG Midget or something similar. I’m not saying Fits are bad, but objectively they just aren’t exciting

I feel like everyone who has a VW either a) never has ANY trouble with it; or b) it can’t go more than 2 days without throwing a CEL (at minimum).

It’s a Yamaha engine, so the power delivery is peaky still. Better torque than the M3 for shure, but the real grunt comes at 3000, and the transmission is geared as such.

I owned a VW once. I slammed it on eBay coilovers, put rubber bands on giant aftermarket wheels, rusted the trunk on purpose and replaced the entire exhaust system when I got it.

Thw brake caliper fell off and all the interior electrics were intermittent at best. It was a sweet car for the few weekends I attended car shows.

I hear what you’re saying and I agree, but the curves are dramatically different. For further clarity, the S65 makes 295 lb-ft crank at 3900 and slings to 8400 on a torque plateau.

The 2UR-GSE makes 371 lb-ft crank at 5100 and goes to 6800 on a camel hump and it runs out of breath after 6000.

Now, I just pulled these from the internet, and OBVIOUSLY different days different dynos different cars different weather , but this is just to illuminate the M3's superior rev range vs the Lexus’ low end grunt.

Look how flat that torque curve is on the S65. The torque it does have it uses with great effect.
